Embakasi East MP Paul Ongili Owino, popularly known as Babu Owino, continues to navigate a prominent profile spanning academic achievements, legal practice, and national politics.
Born on October 10, 1989, Owino attended Kisumu Boys’ Secondary School from 2003 to 2006.
He joined the University of Nairobi in 2008 to pursue Actuarial Science, graduating in 2012 with First Class Honours, before later pursuing a Master’s degree in the same field.

During his time at the institution, Owino rose to prominence in student politics when he was elected chairperson of the Student Organisation of Nairobi University (SONU) in 2011, a leadership tenure credited with reviving student activism on campus.
Expanding his academic profile, Owino returned to the University of Nairobi in 2013 to study Law. His legal journey reached a major milestone on May 23, 2025, when he was admitted to the Bar as an advocate of the High Court. Owino described his admission to the Bar as the start of a new chapter in his political and social justice crusade.
In national politics, Owino was elected as the Embakasi East Member of Parliament in 2017 and subsequently re-elected for a second term in 2022.
Currently, Owino is scaling back Linda Mwananchi rallies amid a party row with Sifuna over the movement’s political vehicle for the 2027 elections.
